Thank you for your interest in the human… workshop. human… is a very unique model of learning and person to person interaction. There is a lot of information shared during the workshop, so it is important that you can commit to being present for the entire period of instruction. There is one meal break during the workshop and it is hosted. Participants are expected to be present for the meal break. If you are unable to commit to the full program time, please allow someone else to participate.
You will be witnessing case studies that include actual videos of police/citizen interactions. Some of them are very graphic in both the depiction of violence, adult content and language. The recommended minimum age of participants is 18. However, a parent can sign a waiver for a juvenile 15 years of age and older to attend, as long as they are accompanied by a parent.
While we encourage sharing what you learned in the workshop, video, and/or audio recording of the material is prohibited.
Code of Conduct
We embrace passion, and we understand this is a very passionate field of study. We also maintain a civil learning environment and prohibit disruptive behavior. We honor and promote the expression of differing opinions. In order to foster a positive environment for learning and sharing, it is important to communicate respectfully with others in tone, volume and choice of words.
- The use of mobile devices is encouraged for specific exercises. With that said, please put your mobile phones on “Silent” before entering the classroom and only remove it from your pocket, purse or bag when asked to do so, to prevent unwanted interruptions.
- Active listening is highly encouraged; it is both a fantastic learning tool and a great sign of respect to others
- Lunch will be provided during a break. To help prevent unnecessary distractions, please save food consumption for break-time and finish your lunch before returning to the workshop.
